Legislative Assembly of British Columbia and Royal BC Museum

We started of the day by heading to downtown Victoria to see the Legislative Assembly! 

The building is quite impressive!

We were able to check some of the information out and then joined a tour and learned a lot about the flag, the building, and the history!  We were impressed by the work they are doing to acknowledge the past, including the horrible parts.  This saying really hit home for me.  

This is from inside looking out at the fountain.  This is an entrance for the only extra special, like the Queen!  Unless you forget to lock it and kids protesting the cost of chocolate in 1947 discover that and get into the building this way!

This is where the Legislative Assembly meets and where the mace is located.  

We had some lunch outside and on our way I had to take a photo of this street sign!  

The spot where we had lunch had a lot of shields and historical markers.  Fancy!

After lunch we headed back to the Legislative Assembly to do a tour of the outside of the building.  This is Matt longing to go in the fancy doorway!

And during the tour they took us through a time wrap where we joined that protest with the kids!  They even gave us protest signs!  Here was mine!  

After that we headed to the Royal BC Museum!  They have a mammoth on display and I took photos of Anna and Olivier with it!  

If you are wondering why Olivier is giving that look, it is because this is what it sounded like!  A little unnerving!  

They had a stage area setup and Olivier really thought about taking a turn on the drums!

We watched a 3D IMAX movie about dinosaurs!  

And before leaving I took this photo of the view!  

On a silly note, we had heard someone playing the bag pipes a few times over the day but couldn't place where they were.  And as we were walking to our car, we saw they were walking to theirs!  And getting in a few more notes!  So odd!
