MVP for Mason!

In a bit of an overdue post - there is an exciting update!  Mason was named MVP of his school volleyball team for the second year in a row!  That is not easy to do!  Way to go Mason!
And today, it was the first club tournament after the end of the school season.  Yes, they do take a break but it is very short (roughly two months).  They played three games and although they lost all three, they really were well matched with the teams they were playing again.  I took a slew of photos and here are some of my favorites!

Here is a short rally.  Since they were well match, there was a lot of good rallies!

More to come next Saturday!

Anna's final district concert - Let's go band!

Tonight Anna had her final concert of her high school career!  It was such an odd feeling!  The concert includes the 6th, 7th, 8th and both of the concert bands from the high school.  It was a bit of a mess moving all those kids around the performing arts center (I think they ran out of seat!) but they did finish the event off with the 6th grade students on the stage and the high schoolers wrapped around the audience with all of them playing "Let's Go Band"!  It was a sweet moment!  I took this video but it is hard to see everyone playing.
Love seeing how these two enjoy making music!

Senior Farewell Concert!

In the continued theme of senior activities, tonight was the senior farewell concert!  Hard to believe they have just one more performance as a group before graduation!

The also awarded students who have completed six trimesters of band the band letter!  Olivier has completed seven trimesters so he got that recognition tonight!
Such a great group of kids!

Senior Recognition Assembly!

Today we attended the senior recognition assembly!  They do a really nice job of decorating the gym with banners for all the places the kids are going and although they don't call all the award, they recognize most of the big ones! First up was band!  Anna has made sacrafices in her schedule to keep band all four years! There are classes that just wouldn't work but she would not let go of band.

There were 101 students who received the seal of biliteracy!  Wow!  These kids work hard for this and Anna went well above the requirement for the seal of biliteracy and we are amazed!
The last one that they included in the assembly is getting the highest score possible in all the sections of the state standardized test.
And there are more proud accomplishments that Anna has - including her very high GPA and being an AP scholar!

Jiu Jitsu Tournament!

Today Olivier participated in his first big jiu jitsu tournament!  We are proud of his hard work and willingness to push himself out of his comfort zone!  He got quite the medal and a great second place finish!  Keep pushing Olivier!

Last school volleyball game for the year and an art show!

On Tuesday Mason played in the last school volleyball game of the season.  He played during the first set which is the only set they won!  Unfortunately they lost the game but they fought and have a lot to be proud of!
Tonight we went to see a piece of pottery that Anna made that was selected for the art show at school!  Very cool!

Senior prom!

Today Anna went to the prom!  There was a group of girls who went, including Lupe who has been Anna's friend since they were starting elementary school.  Fun to see them head out for the fun night!

And she even tolerated a selfie with me!  :-)

First game as a varsity player!

Mason's school varsity team made the CIF playoffs!  They had a first round bye on Tuesday because they won their league and placed first in their division!  In a surprise, they called Mason up to varsity for the playoffs! Here was where the announced him!

Olivier came to the game with us and got this cool photo during warm ups!

The team won their game in three straight sets!  Mason didn't play during the game (neither did a number of players, they are focused on the win!) but it was great to see him there supporting the team and gaining the experience!  Next game - semi-finals on Tuesday!

It's a great day to ride!

Anna got in a nice ride today!  With the busy schedule it is nice when she is able to get a ride in!
