Top of the Arc! Conciergerie! Sainte Chapelle!

We started the day by going to the Arc and going up to the top. Wow!  That was stunning!  And thankfully not super hot!  We then filled up our water bottles at the cool fountain again and took photos this time!  We went to see the opera house on the outside and will be going back Wednesday to tour. We then walked to “new bridge” which used to be covered in locks left by lovers. We saw the bridge art installation although it is now closed but we did see it up. We then went to the conciergerie and learned about how Marie Antoine was held there before she was sent to the guillotine. It was a nice interactive system to see the history of the space. And we also saw Sainte Chapelle which is right next to it and when we were on the first floor we weren’t that impressed. But then we went upstairs - WOW!  Such amazing stained glass!  There are over 1,000 different scenes. Back toward the hotel but we went right to dinner where Anna ordered and had her first cocktail!  It was called a Madeline!  Then we made it back to the hotel. Busy day!

I tried to take photos of the many different directions and all the crazy streets!

Sacre Coeur on the hill!
And you can see the silver balloon for the Olympic flame!

There was a bride and groom who were taking wedding photos!

As we made our way down we saw they had a video feed that showed what was happening on the ground level.  Olivier and Matt are standing in the middle because they went down ahead of us!
Very cool water fountain!  It was nice that it was fairly easy to find water.  Bathrooms not so much.  And sometimes we had to pay to use one.
This was a double decker underground line.  Olivier went down, we stayed at the entry point.

Trying to capture the glass pyramid under Olivier.
This is the art installation on the bridge.  We didn't get to go through but got to see it up close a few times.  Very impressive!
This is on the "New" Bridge which is actually very old.  It used to be covered in locks but they have now installed barriers so you are unable.
People are now putting locks on the light posts.

The sky was stunning!
In the conciergerie for Marie Antoinette.

It was nice to see a special section about women of the revolution.
Then we went to Sainte Chapelle next door.  This is on the first floor.  Impressive but not anything crazy.

And this is on the second floor!  There was over 1,000 panels of unique scenes from the bible.
They were preparing for a concert that was going to be there that night.

Stunning!
The floor!
This was outside. At the very top they had something very unexpected, a rooster!  Guess I would have thought it would be something a little more unique!
Outdoor dining!

Versailles!

We went to Versailles!  We toured the castle then had a snack outside and walked the gardens a bit before heading back to the hotel. Olivier is happy to be able to watch the F1 race. We worked on booking some activities for our next few days before dinner.

The chapple!

He was very proud of his ballet legs!

There used to be a solid silver throne but they had to sell it to pay for war...

The hall of mirrors!  Wow!

This was a jewelry box!

In the gardens they had lots of trees in these large planter boxes (citrus).  They bring them into the underground greenhouse in the winter time which is why they are in planter boxes and not in the ground.

Look at the large fish in the fountain water!
