Louvre!

This morning started with some laundry after breakfast since we have been all getting stinky and sweaty. We then headed out to see the Louvre and took photos outside and under ground with the inverted glass pyramid. We had a light lunch. We saw the Olympic torch from the Louvre and headed to the train station so we know where we need to go on Thursday. We then headed to the area close to Sacre Coeur and did some souvenir shopping. We headed back toward the hotel and had dinner and got snacks for our lunch tomorrow.

Eiffle Tower!

We were ready about the same time today as yesterday and headed out on the metro after breakfast. We went to the Eiffel Tower first and took photos. We didn’t ride to the top because it is too hot and they stop elevator rides at noon. We then walked along the river and saw the French Statue of Liberty. The one in the US is about 4x bigger. We stopped near point alexandre for lunch and we ate on benches in a park type area. We then went to point alexandre. Very cool bridge!  We walked around a bit and found the Olympic flame and look forward to seeing it one night when it is up in the sky. We took the metro to the Louvre but with how horribly hot and muggy it is we opted not to go outside for photos and just took the metro back to the hotel to try and cool off. When it came time for dinner we went looking for a decent menu and at a minimum shaded seating. We settled on a spot and all got sweaty during dinner. Back to our rooms for showers and bed!  And we watch the start of the France vs Norway soccer game!  They won!

Churches! Arc de Triomphe!

We all slept in a bit and had breakfast at our hotel, they have a lot of options!  We then took the metro to Sacre Coeur. We stopped for a light lunch and popsicles because again it is crazy hot. The hottest it has ever been here. Lucky us!  We then took the metro to Arc de Triomphe!  Very cool and much larger than I imagined. And surrounded by a crazy traffic circle. We found a very cool drinking fountain and refilled our water bottles and enjoyed the water. We then took the metro the Notre Dame!   It was stunning and the paintings are giant!  They are still working on the recovery after the fire and we are thankful we got to see it!  Back to the hotel to cool off for a bit before dinner! We found a small grocery type store right by the hotel - perfect to get some desert after dinner!

We opted to take the fenicular to the top but it was the hotest few minutes! Whew, a glass enclosure fully in the sun, but better than climbing the stairs in the crazy heat!

The view into the city was nice since were on a bit of a hill.

View as we made our way down.  Lots of locks on all the fences!
The arc!

They have their tomb for the unknown soldier here from World War I.

Notre Dame!  Wow!

Still lots of work to be done after the devastating fire in 2019.
