Anna went on a walking field trip to celebrate how far they have come in their reading and writing this year. Exciting to see Anna come home with things like this! And I was able to figure it out! :-) It is getting tricky for me to figure out all this Spanish but I am thrilled by that! You rock Anna!

Up for a game of kick ball?
Today we finally remembered to bring a couple of balls to the park so we could play some kick ball. The kids had a lot of fun with it and "maybe" started to understand the concept behind running the bases. Maybe... Mason and I did play as well but it is hard to get a photo with me in it and Mason didn't want to leave my side. Still loves his mama like crazy. I won't complain!

Strawberry Stampede!
Last year my dad and I had talked about participating in the Strawberry Stampede. Things didn't work out but this year they did! We had a lot of fun and better yet, my dad got a metal for third in his age group! :-)

Just having fun at the park
We were enjoying the nice weather at the park! It is nice to have it right in our backyard, makes it easy to get some energy out of the kids without taking too much of ours! :-)

Mother's Day at Anna's school
Today I was lucky enough to spend most of my morning in Anna's class where they had a celebration for their mothers. It was a lot of fun. First they had us go into the class room that was set up with special place settings for each of us. They had made a name tent so we knew where to go and a special placemat with our favorite colors. They served us lemonade and gave us time to put on our crowns. Then we read the stories they had written about us (along with pictures, and a drawing of us). It was very sweet! And Anna did all of her writing to me in Spanish! Way to go!
After a while the kids came in and they sang a bunch of songs (at least ten!). I got this photo of Anna being silly between songs.
And here is a short clip from two of the songs. It was hard to choose!

Fun Bus Ride
Today our City transit system is celebrating their 40th anniversary! The held a celebration event that finished with a ride on the double decker bus. I took the kids along for the bus ride because they have been asking for months to go for a ride but given that it usually is packed, this seemed like a great alternative!
Very few of the celebration attendees joined us on the bus ride so the kids got their choice of seats, and can you guess where they wanted to sit?
And this is the view we had. They took us on a forty minute ride around the City and the kids loved every minute!

Anna's perseverance!
Today Anna got an award at school for her perseverance! She has been working really hard on not only her reading and writing in Spanish (and she has done amazing!) but also in speaking in Spanish. She was all smiles and said she knew right away the award was going to be for her when her Spanish teacher started talking about someone speaking in Spanish more! Exciting times!
Getting some special goodies from the principal, Mr. Mayfield!
And her award!
