Grouse mountain - it isn't gross at all!

Today was by far our warmest, and sunniest day of the trip...and it is the last one!  We weren't sure what we should do and at the last minute settled on Grouse mountain.  This is a view of part of the mountain.
It started with an eight person gondola trip to the first area.
This is the view down the mountain from that gondola with a reflection of Olivier's legs!

This is a view from the spot where we had lunch!
Mason is measuring up to those bears!

We headed to a logging show.
It was fun and ended with a bit of what you could call a comedy show.  One of the staff climbed one of the sixty foot poles.

After that show we took the chair lift to the next height on the mountain.  They said it was a 15 minute trip and although we didn't time it, that seemed about right.

The boys were in the chair behind us.
You can see the amazing view!

We then made our way back down the chair lift.  Oddly we thought this would feel more alarming but it was a great ride!

We then went on a nature walk and learned a lot about the area.

And we saw the grizzly bears!  They have a five acre area to roam after being abandon when they were a few months old years ago.
We opted for the larger gondola for the last piece going down (they use it for people and bikes).  Oh, yeah, this is another spot that Olivier was very bummed to not have a bike!  More of the beautiful view!
Heading home tomorrow!  Such a great trip but we are all looking forward to our own beds!

Along the way to Whistler - scenic points!

Today we took the drive back toward Whistler.  We didn't go all the way there because we stopped at a few scenic points along the way.  Stop number one was the Shannon creek falls.  It was beautiful!

This photo seems kind of magical!
Great view!

There was this large rock formation that reminded me a lot of Yosemite!
We drove a little more and after lunch we visited Brandywine Falls.  Wow!

We then headed to the train wreck.  Yes, you read that right!  They had a few funny route markers.  Here is one.  We weren't taking "just another trail".
Along the way there was an area where two rivers merged.  You can see a bit of the glacial flour in the water.

Another funny route marker.  Don't take the trash route!
And we got to the train wreck.  Here is a bit of information about what happened in 1956.
And here is what it looks like now.
I spy Olivier!
Inside the car!
Wild to see how it is all so mangled!

They installed a bridge to make it easy to get to the train wreck because so many people wanted to get there and they were walking along the train tracks.  To make it safer there is now a path and bridge!

We didn't see any bears today but we saw evidence of them!
We started our way down the mountain and stopped a few times for photos!

Another of the great wall of rock!
On the way back to the hotel from this point it should have been about an hour.  Well, something happened just on the south end of the Lion Gate Bridge which we needed to get to our hotel.  The one hour drive took over two and a half hours.  Thankfully we had enough snacks and we didn't have bathroom issues but wow, we didn't anticipate that.  There really was no alternative route so we just went with it.
