Last kinder long day means a field trip!

Today was the boys last long day in kindergarten.  In order to take advantage of the time, the teachers coordinated a walking field trip to the city library, then pizza for lunch, with a ride on the city bus back to school.  I was lucky enough to be able to swing the day off work and join the group.  They have 43 kids, four teachers, and 18 parents.  It was great!  They were so excited when they realized Anna's best friends mom would be reading to them (she is a GREAT story teller by the way!) and then they got to roam.  Of course I wasn't surprised when Mason picked a book to read and Olivier asked me to read a book.  They love books!

It was a great day!  Hard to believe kindergarten is almost over!

Open House Night!

Tonight we visited the kids school for Open House.  Before we enjoyed that we played at the park, and completed homework!  And a picnic for dinner!  Talk about a fun night!  And everyone should sleep well tonight!  Anna decided to do her reading on the swing.  Why not?  And Olivier was happy to swing next to her.
The kinder kids all paint tiles with flowers.  They put their names and year they completed kinder on the tiles and then they go up around the kinder yard.  We got to see the boys tiles.
And then took Anna's photo with her tile.
Outside of the second grade classrooms they had drawings of the kids.  Here is Anna with Anna.  We had to giggle because she said it was tricky because she was wearing a skirt that day.
So much fun checking out the classrooms and of course we had to check out what the classrooms look like for next year.  Hard to believe there are only nine more days of school!

Family Color Fun Run

Today we took the kids out to a local Outdoor Discovery festival.  As part of the activities they had a color fun run (5k).  In the last few months Mason had been asking to do one since Anna had done one with me a couple of years ago.  This was a low cost run and low pressure so we decided to go and enjoy.  Here are the kids before photos.  :-)
Anna and Mason after with me!  Nice and messy.  Anna avoided the last new color stations because she was getting too messy.  :-)
Matt with all three kiddos.  Olivier was our slow poke but we all eventually finished.
After the run we had lunch and noticed that Olivier had a bit of a blue mohawk.
After lunch and cleaning up a little bit, we went and checked out the vendor booths.  Anna was happy to visit with the bear.
Thank goodness for showers and a good washing machine.  :-)

Dia de la familia 2016

Matt and I were lucky enough to enjoy dia de la familia as part of the boys kindergarten program.  It was so sweet to see their two classes sing songs together, then they brought over cake, strawberries, and lemonade to their parents.   Olivier is in the front row on the left and Mason is in the back row toward the right.
And here is a video of one of their songs.
After that we got to take photos with the kids.  One in front of the green banner.
And one in front of the blue banner.
And we got to take home flowers (the one you see in this photo), as well as some craft projects the boys have been working really hard on in their art class.

Matt on the run!

Today was all about Matt!  The kids and I met him at the park by our house early on in his run (just before the six mile mark).  Then we went home and had breakfast.  Then it was off to the next meeting location around mile 18.  Here is one as Matt approached with the kids cheering (Olivier is in front of Mason).  He was feeling run down from the sun but was looking good.
From there the kids and I drove to the finish line to cheer on the runners and prepare for Matt's arrival.  I let the kids go on the other side of the fence (with a lot of specific instructions!) when Matt was close.  They ran with him for a short bit when he had .2 miles to go.
Here is a short video clip of them running.
And here is a giant pile of proud!  We are so proud of you Daddy!
