With everything going on I haven't been good about updating the blog on what the kids have been up to so I wanted to do that while I had a moment! One update for all three is that they are doing soccer again (from late January to the end of March). They are really enjoying it still but Olivier still wants to use his hands, maybe he will be a keeper?
Anna:
She had her seven year old checkup today and she is close to 50 pounds and 47.5 inches. She is doing well and staying steady at the 45 percentile for weight and height. She has now lost eight teeth, yes eight! The big issue with Anna's teeth is just that, they are big! In her tiny mouth with her baby teeth squished in some teeth need to be pulled out. :-( She had one pulled out this week but the other three that need to go will need a bit more help than her dentist could provide. Bummer. School is going very well. She is still reading English like crazy, and Anna continues to exceed the standard for Spanish, meaning that she is reading above what a native Spanish speaker would read in Spanish in the first grade. And when she speaks in Spanish it is very fast! She is shy about it even with us but I caught her counting in Spanish when she was doing her math homework this week, cool! She also got some snap circuits for her birthday which were a surprising hit, with all three kids (although the boys need more help).
Olivier:
He is so close to reading (if he isn't already). I remember when Anna was at this point of learning to read that sometimes we thought she was reading but she would deny it, and other times we thought she wasn't but she was. Olivier is there and is working hard at sounding out words. As wild and adventurous as he is, he loves books. He will sit and go through books looking at the words and pictures for long periods of time. He was very excited to go to the dentist in February but got really mad when they told him he didn't have any loose teeth. We have tried to reassure Olivier that everyone looses their baby teeth and the tooth fairy will visit when the time comes but he still questions why it isn't happening now! The boys got Mario Cart for our Wii for Christmas and boy does he LOVE it. At first watching him play made me sick to my stomach with all the crashes and just being silly. Now he has gotten the hang of it and is good. Health wise there are still ups and downs but we are able to manage them much better.
Mason:
He has four slightly loose teeth, wow! We knew his top two would probably come out early (due to a bonk he had almost three years ago) but we didn't realize that his bottom two were loose also. It would be funny (for us, not him) if he lost all four around the same time. He might look like a hockey player! :-) He has been really into trying to figure out magic tricks and enjoyed a little set of tricks we got from the dollar store. He is growing like a weed, yes, a weed! Mason loves making costumes and helping put on plays or shows at school. His latest costume is a pig. And yes, this is the kid who would not wear a Halloween costume just before he turned two and just before he turned three. He also loves to look at books and practice reading. Mason also loves talking about his friend, "No Sam" which is his name spelled backwards. No Sam has a spot at our dinner table most nights and often joins us for car trips. He still love his blue bear (stuffed animal) and the blue bear costume I made for him.
